When penguins in Germany refused to mate back in February, their handlers brought in Swedish consorts. The Germans were unmoved by the comely birds, affirming what had been suspected for some time: the German penguins were gay. Now Sweden's confronting its own fey fowl.
For the third mating season in a row, a pair -- no -- a couple of males ducks have returned to a park in Malmo, Sweden.
"We can state that they act exactly like a couple (composed) of a man and woman, the bigger one always defending the smaller duck," Lennarth Blomquist, in charge of local bird management, told the TT news agency.
The two are inseparable, they care only about each other and that's not likely to change.
"Shelducks mate for life," Blomquist added.
